Eva & Mara | Family Portraits | Wellington

Beauties Eva & Mara came in recently to see me for a “Mummy & Me Session”.  I love these sessions because they capture that amazing bond between a mother and child.

Time flies so quickly with our babies.  Make memories and exist in photos for your children.  I hope Eva & Mara will smile when they look back on these photos over the years 🙂

Linda & Bella | Family Portraits | Wellington Glamour Photography

Mother & Daughter sessions are some of my absolute favourites.  It’s so much fun to bring the girls in, get them made up, pick out some glam frocks and then spend time capturing them together.  Something they’ll be able to look back on years from now and treasure!

This session was Linda’s way of celebrating Bella becoming a teenager this week.  It was pretty clear from the moment they walked in the studio they have an amazing relationship.  They’ve been on huge overseas adventures together and with their fair share of challenges, their bond is super strong.  But despite Bella being the one turning 13, Linda believes she is more the child and Bella acts like mum!

Bella is gorgeous now, but  I can definitely see glimpses of the stunning woman she will become in a few more years, can you?  Linda wasn’t so sure about being in the photos herself – but I managed to convince her we’d have a good time and she needed to exist in photos for Bella.  Upon seeing the results, she knows she made the right choice!

These guys were so much fun to photograph, and both of them are gorgeous.  Happy 13th Birthday Bella!!!  You’re entering a whole new exciting chapter in life!  You won’t remember me in 20 years time, but I hope you will have beautiful memories of this special day with your Mum 🙂

Thanks again to Keryn Ward Makeup Artist for her help on this shoot!

Rosalyn | Newborn Portraits | Wellington Newborn Photography

This series of images are very special to me, and the hardest shoot(s) I have had to do so far! Introducing the reason I’ve been so quiet since May – my little girl Rosie was born 23 June and has been keeping me on my toes ever since!

Newborn shoots are never really easy and I have a new-found respect for all the new parents who have come to me in those first few sleep deprived days to get those precious shots taken!

Normally I would expect to get at least 20 quality images within the session (which can last anywhere up to three hours… but I was only able to manage around 10 images from my own, over a few different days (don’t even mention the time to edit!) …and hubby still told me off for the positions I put myself in post surgery… oops!

But seriously, I couldn’t miss capturing this fleeting moment in time.  Now I have these gorgeous photos to remind me how tiny she was (and how much hair she had at birth for that matter!) 🙂

Hello 2014!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you’ve all managed to have a fabulous start to 2014, whether it was restful or productive over the silly season.  I managed to have myself a nice wee break, but now it’s time to get back into it… and one of my ‘resolutions’ will to pay my blog more attention this year!

As has become tradition, I like to look back and reflect on some of my favourite images from the past 12 months.

As I thought hard, and eventually whittled down my choices to a mere 10 out of over 2000 images from my library of ‘2013 keepers’, I began to notice a pattern emerging.  Relationships seem to have been a strong focus for me in 2013.  Capturing love in all forms, whether it’s a young couple about to embark on their next big adventure together, a parent and child’s unbreakable bond, or the love between an owner and loyal pet, each is truly special in their own way.  This is why I love doing what I do…. Capturing the emotions of the moment, and preserving that precious memory in time forever!

Then there are the individual portraits, the one’s that tell a story with their eyes and body language.  That moment when their guard is completely down, if I can capture that instant, then it’s as if I’ve got a glimpse into my subject’s soul.

I hope you like my selections for 2013, and I look forward to a very exciting 2014 ahead, with many ideas and goals to work on!  I hope you’ll enjoy following (or even better being a part of) my journey!
